Can You Spot All the Hidden Mickeys?

Disneyland, famously known for being the happiest place on earth, is one of the largest attractions in southern California. The family-friendly experience has left many yearning to come back for another trip. The attractions do not get tiresome; in fact if you go on certain rides, such as Space Mountain, you may start to wonder if they have increased the ride's speed. For some visitors, it is the shows that bring them back for more. However, for others it may be the quest to find all the hidden Mickeys in the park. Yes it is true, throughout the Disneyland Parks there are hidden Mickeys scattered everywhere. This eventful game began as an inside joke between the builders and designers of the various Disneyland attractions.

It takes a watchful and creative eye to find where these Mickeys are located. But one may ask, what exactly qualifies as a hidden Mickey? Well according to the book, "Disneyland's Hidden Mickeys," there is no list that tells where all the hidden Mickeys are located. It is something that is based on the viewer's discretion, just as long as there are three circles that make up a Mickey head; one circle representing the head which should be bigger than the two ears.

Due to limited space, I have covered only the main attractions at Disneyland. During your next trip to the Land of Happiness see how many Hidden Mickeys you can find!

1. Pirates of the Caribbean- The first hidden Mickey can be found on the wall in the first flight scene. The second Mickey is on the armor at the end of the ride.

2. Space Mountain- Though there are no hidden Mickeys in the actual ride, there are two that can be spotted on the attraction. The first can be found on the video that is inside the building once you enter; the Mickey is found in the form of a Mickey hat. The last Mickey is on the ride vehicles.

3. Splash Mountain- The first Mickey is not as easy to find on this particular ride, however the first Mickey is found in the waiting line. The second Mickey is on a wall during the ride.

4. Indiana Jones Adventure- The adventure of Indiana Jones leaves several Mickeys for quests to find. The first Mickey can be found in the room with the video screen. The second one is located in the office right after the video room. As the ride begins, look up at Mara's face and there will lay the third Mickey. The fourth Mickey is in the shape of a Mickey hat as you enter the Mummy Room during the ride. The last Mickey is a little tricky to find; in the circular room there is a rope, and a stone disk that has a very small Mickey on it.

5. Haunted Mansion- There are numerous amounts of Mickey's on this spooky trail. They may be just about everywhere. As a guide, keep your eyes out for plates and saucers throughout the ride.

6. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh- The first Mickey is found on ride vehicles. The second Mickey is hidden in the woods right after the ride begins; as you pass by the Heffalumps, look to see if you can find the last hidden Mickey.

7. Alice in Wonderland- Since there is an array of color in Wonderland, it is important to make sure to keep a close lookout for hidden Mickeys painted in red.

8. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad- On this speedy ride, there is one Mickey that has been recorded. It is shaped by three of the train's gears.

9. Star Tours- The hidden Mickey that is located on the ride can be found in the pre-boarding video, similar to that of Space Mountain.

10. Mark Twain Riverboat- The best time to see these hidden Mickeys is when there is light. The first Mickey is found in the waters during the ride. The second Mickey is visible on the fronts of the boats. The last one can be seen in the loading area as a painting.

11. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters- The first Mickey is looking down on its guests in the line of the ride. During the ride there is a Mickey that can be found on one of the shooting blocks. The last three Mickeys are hidden on the wall once the ride comes to an end.

So there you have it, a guide to finding the hidden Mickeys throughout the attractions. A main point to keep in mind: if you think it is a hidden Mickey, it perhaps is one! There is no actual list of what does and does not make up a hidden Mickey, just as long as it has three circles with one bigger than the other two. Searching for the hidden Mickeys is a good way to keep yourself occupied as you wait in line. Good luck on your mission to finding them all!
