When water rushes past your face at speeds unknown, you leap or dive in to a 13 feet deep pool of water. Whether it's to be the fastest or make the smallest splash, the California Baptist University swimmers and divers come ready on game day. The NAIA nationally ranked team added two wins to both the men and women's swim team Saturday Jan. 16.
The Lancer women defeated the number one-ranked school Fresno Pacific 184-116 and number four-ranked Concordia 214-82. Then the Lancer men had to carry the undefeated streak on Saturday, beating Fresno Pacific 184-116 and 212-82. The male swimmers and divers have been National Champions for the past four years and hope to finish this year's season with the same outcome.
"This meet was just another stepping stone on the way to nationals," Taylor Kile, a freshman swimmer for the Lancers, said. "To win these meets was a proud thing to accomplish on our home turf, Especially when it's the last home match of the year."
There was a special ceremony in honor of all the senior men's and women's hard work and effort for love of the sport. The ceremony gave them the best hopes and wishes as they competed for the last time at CBU in their home pool. These seniors will have the pride to finish off the season to the best of their ability, knowing it's their last season as a CBU Lancer.
