Women's water polo coach, Jacob Medina, predicts that this season will be the best for California Baptist University, with the help of this year's roster.
"Given our 2010 strength of schedule and the team's talented depth we are fixing to break into this elite group of top collegiate teams and aim to have one of the best women's water polo seasons in school history," Medina said.
The team has 5 of 7 starters from last year's team including Chelsea Gentry, Collette Brown, and Kylie Chevalier, who return as the team's captains.
Each position in the pool is filled, as there is a record high in recruitment for the team with the addition of 11 athletes, both transfer students and freshman.
"Transfer Petra Kovacs and freshmen Morgan Barrows, Alyssa Birch, Doris Tran and Christina Webb will all be asked to provide crucial minutes," Medina said.
Joining freshman include Micaela Doucette, Brittany Bateman and Becky Zen.
However, the team will have its work cut out for them as they face their most difficult schedule to date.
"We have placed ourselves in an excellent position to break into the Country's Top 20 ranking."
Already, they have been 2-0, with their wins against Cal Sate San Bernardino and Concordia with winning scores of 11-4 and 13-7 respectively.
